Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday said the Pak-China relations have entered a different phase, from political to economic one, which was a matter of great happiness for Pakistan. The Prime Minister stated this during his meeting with Chinese counterpart Li Keqiang on the sidelines of the 71st UN General Assembly session in New York.
The Prime Minister showed his satisfaction on the state of Pak-China relations and welcomed the statement of China on the atrocities being committed in Indian occupied Kashmir. Condemning terrorism in all its forms and manifestation, the Prime Minister said Pakistan was committed to peace and stability in the region. He said Operation Zarb-e-Azb was going on successfully and the network of terrorists from Pakistan had been dismantled. He said peace with neighbours was Pakistan's vision.
He condoled with Li Keqiang on the deaths in China due to recent floods and said whatever happened there was a matter of concern for Pakistan. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he was looking forward to Chinese Premier's visit to Pakistan. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang said Pak-China relations were unbreakable. He accepted invitation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to visit Pakistan soon.
Li Keqiang said China would stand with Pakistan: "We support Pakistan and we will speak for Pakistan at every forum. We are thankful to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for investing huge resources for the safety and security of Chinese personnel in Pakistan." China attached great importance to Pakistan's position on Kashmir, he said and added, Pakistan itself was a victim of terrorism.
The Chinese Premier hoped that there would be better understanding of Pakistani position on Kashmir by the international community. He expressed the hope that situation between India and Pakistan would not escalate. He said China was ready to play constructive role in improvement of relations between Pakistan and India.
