Cash basis bids for hard red winter wheat were quietly unchanged in the southern US Plains on Thursday as farmer sales remained slow while millers and elevators had sufficient supplies on hand following the summer harvest, dealers said. Bids firmed for some protein classes for wheat shipped to and through Kansas City, suggesting a slight pickup in demand, CME Group data showed late on Wednesday.
Traders were awaiting US Department of Agriculture data due on Friday that is expected to show US HRW wheat production sharply higher than in 2015 as well as bigger stockpiles of US wheat, according to analysts polled by Reuters.
