The CPI inflation has increased by 3.86 percent during the first quarter of the current fiscal year over the same period of last fiscal year, according to Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS). The Consumer Price Index (CPI) statistics released by the PBS on Monday revealed that food & non-alcoholic beverages has increased by 3.17 percent during July-September 2016 over the same period of last fiscal year, non-perishable food items 2.48 percent, perishable food items by 7.01, alcoholic beverages & tobacco by 17.71 percent.
The cost of clothing & footwear increased by 4.50 percent, housing water, electric gas & other fuels by 4.71 percent and furnishing & household equipment maintenance by 3.68 percent. The cost of health increased by 5.93 percent, transport cost decreased by 4.14 percent, communication cost increased by 0.41 percent, recreation & culture by 1.39 percent, education by 8.32 percent, restaurant & hotel by 5.99 percent and miscellaneous goods & services have been increased by 5.74 percent.
The prices of those commodities increased in the month of September over previous month were lemon by 35.52 percent, mango kalmi by 26.01 percent, ginger by 20.65 percent, Entox tablet by 16.80 percent, cucumber by 14.72 percent, Dettol (medium) by 14.46 percent, Lederplex syrup by 14.42 percent, onion by 12.74 percent, garlic by 9.50 percent, gas cylinder standard size by 9.36 percent, chilly green by 6.07 percent, guava by 5.96 percent and cinnamon loose by 5.83 percent.
However, price of pomegranate decreased by 18.92 percent, bottle gourd by 12.49 percent, lady finger by 12.21 percent, pumpkin by 9.80 percent, brinjal by 9.02 percent, turai by 8.85 percent, bananas by 5.87 percent and tomatoes by 4.91 percent. The price of garlic has increased by 80.01 percent in September 2016 as compared to same month of last fiscal year, gram whole yellow by 56.52 percent, pulse gram by 37.24 percent, pulse mash by 34.58 percent, gram whole black by 33.02 percent, besan by 31.54 percent, Entox tablet by 30 percent, potatoes by 29.80 percent, cinema a/c high class by 26.73 percent, postal registration charges by 25.93 percent, tablet Dispirin by 25.10 percent, guava by 23.22 percent, tablet Panadol plain/extra by 22 percent, tinda by 21.36 percent and Dettol medium by 19.62 percent.
The price of onions decreased by 38.47 percent in September 2016 over September 2015, ginger by 15.96 percent, mango by 15.14 percent, petrol by 12.53 percent, bus fare by 12.29 percent, diesel by 11.09 percent, rice basmati by 10.60 percent, iron bar by 8.62 percent, tyre motor cycle by 8.42 percent, tea by 8.13 percent, bus fare by 7.78 percent and kerosene oil by 6.06 percent.
