Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday officially launched electronic ticketing system to facilitate the passengers. The state-of-the-art ticketing system was launched in a ceremony held at the PR Headquarters. After the inauguration of this system, the passengers will be able to pay for their tickets online via credit or debit cards, online bank transfers or micro transactions like UBL Omni Easypaisa or Mobicash.
The passengers will also be able to get their seats reserved and pay for tickets from their homes by using internet. With the induction of this system, it is expected that seat occupancy for the railways would increase and chances of issuing fake tickets would reduce. Everything will be handled electronically, so seats could be reserved quickly and efficiently with no human interaction. Replying a question, the minister said that the nation had rejected the politics of agitation practised by PTI Chief Imran Khan because of his non-serious attitude towards betterment and prosperity of the country.
