Pakistan's overall telecom imports plunged by 10 percent to $174.469 million in July-August 2016-17, official figures say. Fall in telecom imports reaches $18.753 million in July-Aug 2016-17 from $193.222 million in July-August 2015-16, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics shows. In August 2016, the country's telecom imports slumped to $100.208 million from $114.945 million in August 2015, declining by 13 percent or $14.737million.
Import of mobile phones also scaled down by 12 percent or $12.674 million to $92.704 million in July-August 2016-17 from $105.378 million in July-August 2015-16. The country's import of cellular handsets nose-dived by 23 percent or $13.507 million to $46.503 million in August 2016 from $60.010 million in August 2015.
