City District Government Peshawar has launched first phase of Information, Communication and Technology tools in its offices to move smartly for local development. In the first phase official website of City District Government Peshawar www.cdg peshawar.gov.pk is launched in District Nazim Office. As a next step online tendering process will also be launched at the end of this month.
The online tender process will ensure transparency in procurement process at district level and will provide one window service to the contractors. The initiative is introduced in collaboration with Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) and U-Elect. Both the organizations have signed a memorandum of understanding with District Nazim of Peshawar to facilitate district government in website development, online procurement process, recruitment process, Citizens' Feedback mechanism, Local Government Connect and sharing of day to day information with citizens' through website.
Syed Kausar Abbas, Executive Director of Sustainable Social Development Organization (SSDO) said that as a first step the website of city district government is launched where citizens can get information about the day to day affairs of district government through one click from its website. He said that the website has all public related information and also a citizens' feedback model to get the complaints and suggestions of citizens' for improving public service delivery in Peshawar.
He also told that the online tender process of the district government is under process and will be launched in the last week of October. These steps will reduce the corruption from the district offices and will help in ensuring transparency in the tendering process of the district government.
Abbas also told that the website of District Nowshera and Mardan will also be launched soon. Shaan Muhammad Khan, Chairman of U-Elect said that the ICT tools are the best way to eliminate corruption and ensure transparency from public offices. He said that the Information technology will also facilitate the common citizens' to get day to day information and provide feedback to the performance of local government department. All the public related data will be uploaded on website and citizens' will be able to get information on a single click. The information will be helpful to promote social accountability and transparency in the public offices of Peshawar.
