The City police have evolved a security plan for 8 to 10 Muharram processions under which over 4000 policemen and a considerable number of NGOs volunteers will shoulder their responsibilities to maintain peace facilitating the mourners of Imam Hussain.
As per the plan, over 4030 policemen including 12 SSPs, 28 DSPs, 2917 head constables and constables would perform duties to maintain law and order during the religious events in the metropolis. Some 484 persons from non-governmental organizations (NGOs) would assist them in facilitating the azadars.
As many as eight close circuit television cameras (CCTV) control rooms are established to monitor the activities at the mourning processions, of which, six are formed at different NGOs' offices whereas two are to be established at DSPs offices.
Police mobiles and motorcycles' patrolling will also be ensured across the city with main focus on mourning congregations and processions. Law enforcers will be deployed at all Imambargahs, Majalis and processions to ensure foolproof security to the mourners during the processions on 8, 9 and 10th of Muharram.
According to officials, all activists of militants, sectarian groups and criminal elements would be kept under close surveillance.
Bomb Disposal teams are being assigned their duties at Imambargahs and Majalis where they will instantly remove if any suspicious material found anywhere during physical search or of baggage and they will also remove the same to safer places. The Bomb Disposal Squad are on alert round the clock to effectively react to any untoward situation.
