Five persons of a family died after roof of a dilapidated house collapsed in wee hours on Sunday in Neki Khel area of tehsil Landi Kotal of tribal Khyber Agency.
The locals and administration sources said that the children of two brothers Ghaffar Khan and Daud Khan were sleeping in their house when a dilapidated boundary wall of their neighbour resident fell on the roof of their veranda at 5 am engendering the collapse of veranda roof burying the children under the debris.
Immediately after the incident, the relatives and locals rushed to the site, initiated relief work and retrieved the bodies. Rescue officials reached the scene and shifted the bodies to hospital after evacuating them from the rubble.
The deceased were identified as Muhammad s/o Ghaffar, Zuhra d/o Ghaffar, Hazra d/o Ghaffar, Hamas s/o Daud Khan and Madiha d/o Daud Khan. Muhammad was the 1st year student of private a college in Landi Kotal.
The political tehsildar Irshad Mohmand along with Khasadar force contingents visited the affected family, sympathised with them and gave away 0.1 million for burial purpose of the deceased children.
Later on, the deceased were buried at their ancestral graveyard in Neiki Khel, Khyber Zakha Khel.
