The government is anticipating that 324 delegates from 100 foreign countries including Russia would participate in IDEAS 2016, scheduled to be held on November 22 -25. Officials of Defence Depo briefed the members of Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production regarding IDEAS 2016, to be held at Karachi Expo. Lieutenant General Abdul Qayyum (Retd) chaired the meeting of the committee.
The committee was informed that an estimated 5,000 participants would attend the seminar for promotion of defence production. The expo would help Pakistan to market its defence articles and equipments for sale on commercial basis. The meeting was informed that defence production's held three consultative meetings of its Steering Committee with stakeholders and sought recommendations and suggestions for making the expo more meaningful.
The officials of the committee requested the Standing Committee to recommend the government for early release of subsidy announced in the national budget. "This is a serious matter as we did not receive the subsidy announced previous year", an official said. The expo would be inaugurated by the Prime Minister and will be attended by the chief ministers of four provinces and other high ranking government officials.
