Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq has said that in Pakistan, the competition was not among the political parties but between the tyrants and the oppressed as the former comprising feudal lords and capitalists were controlling the state institutions and exploiting the poor masses.
While addressing a workshop for the JI members and workers from Karachi central district, he said that the masses would have to rise to ensure the rule of law and the constitution and to get rid of the oppressive and corrupt rulers besides kingship. Sirajul Haq said that Imam Husain (RA) had sacrificed his entire family but refused to yield before a tyrant ruler as the great Imam wanted the supremacy of law.
He said that unfortunately, the tyrants and the corrupt were united and aggressive as against whom the oppressed masses were in disarray. The JI chief said that the need of the times was that the masses rose against hereditary rule, following the golden example set by the great Imam and struggled for a democratic system in harmony with the Shariah.
Sirajul Haq deplored that the rulers were deliberately neglecting important social sectors of education and health and remarked that perhaps the rulers wanted the masses to remain illiterate and sick so that they were unable to launch an effective movement for accountability. He said that the JI was the ray of hope for the common man and was fighting for the rights of the poor and the downtrodden. He said the JI' drive against corruption would continue till the recovery of the plundered wealth from the corrupt rulers.
