Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) hosted a public meeting in Mardan to show its mass support against the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. More than 100,000 people attended the PMLN gathering.
The KP-based PMLN bigwigs are intensifying political pressure on Imran Khan's PTI and their coalition government in the province, to counter the "anti-Prime Minister campaign' of the latter across the country. PML-N staged several rallies across the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with counter accusations that that PTI-led government in the KP province failed to deliver.
Police estimated that more than 100,000 people in attended the rally. The railway ground was fully jam-packed with workers of PML-N. Unprecedented security measures were adopted around the venue. Workers of Pakistan Muslim League-N wore traditional party caps and flags. They raised some anti-Imran Khan slogans, chanting 'Go Imran Go'.
Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Pervez Rashid, Minister for Planning, Development, and Reforms Ahsan Iqbal, Prime Minister's advisor, Engr Amir Muqam and central and provincial leaders spoke at the rally.
Pervez Rashid said that PML-N never attacked anyone at their political rally. He said they had given a chance to the PTI to form government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He claimed the PML-N was capable to show its strength in the province, saying that PTI was still dependent on PML-N to rule in KP. He asked Imran Khan to fulfill his promises which he made to the masses.
Terming the PTI Raiwind rally as a flop show, the minister said he won't disclose where would be Imran Khan on October 30. He said nowadays some people were talking about attack and bloodshed. He said people would vote again to PML-N in next general elections. Being a Pakistani, our grief, pain and happiness, are equal, he added.
"Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif left no stone unturned to deliver the poor masses of the country," Rashid said adding that Prime Minister's agenda was peace and development. He said that Nawaz Sharif had taken practical steps for elimination of terrorism and development in the country. Pervez Rashid said there was dire need of hour of sustainable development. He said those hatching conspiracies to topple the government were not sincere with people because PMLN's was a democratically-elected legitimate government.
"Imran's Khan talked about changes and reforms but that is not seen anywhere in the KP province," he said. He said billions of rupees were looted in the name of one billion tree programme in the province. He said that if PTI government would plant trees then PML-N workers would shower them with water.
Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal said that Pakistan was known in the world as a dangerous country in 2013, but due to progressive and steadfast policies of PML-N led government country was put on the path of development and progress. He claimed the government had initiated development projects on fast-track basis in the country.
"We want to establish sustainable peace and create maximum opportunities for people through development projects in the country," he said adding that PML-N government believed in development instead of 'sit-in' politics. He said the people of KP had turned down the Imran's Khan 'sit-in' and negative politics.
Amir Muqam said that the change come to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as people were chanting slogans in favour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. He said Imran Khan dreamt to become PM of the country, but that would not come true. He said Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had failed to bring any change in the province. He said people had given their verdict against the Pervez Khattak-led PTI government. He said people favoured PML-N by largely attending this rally.
Amir Muqam claimed that KP would become political hub of Pakistan Muslim League-N very soon. He said Imran Khan made empty promises but didn't take substantial practical steps.
