The Lahore High Court on Tuesday restrained Lesco from recovering disputed arrears of general sales tax (GST) from electricity consumers and observed that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has the jurisdiction to recover the disputed arrears of GST. Representing the petitioner-companies, Mohsin Virk told the court that Lesco had been recovering the disputed amount illegally. He said Lesco or any other electricity distribution company had no power to recover arrears of the sales tax.
