Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association Syed Zahir Shah Wednesday directed all the affiliated districts to hold their respective Inter-Club Hockey Championships well before October 31 and in case of failure of any of the district action would be taken within the constitution of the association.
He said the decision in this connection was taken in the last general council meeting held on August 18, 2016 to hold their respective Inter-Club Hockey Championship and should involve all registered and none-registered clubs. He said the registered clubs are thoroughly bound to participate in the Inter-Club Hockey Championship of its respective district while the clubs applied for registration should also be part of the Championship otherwise no registration would be granted according to the constitution of KP Hockey Association and the Pakistan Hockey Federation, Syed Zahir Shah informed.
He said if any district has any problems - both financial and other related matters - should contact the KP Hockey Association well in time so that any support in this connection would be extended to that district. He said as introduced by the Pakistan Hockey Federation, the massive exercise of Inter-Club Hockey Tournament, across the length and breadth of the country.
Beginning from the Tehsil level, it would move up the tiers through district, regional, provincial and finally national level, he added. The event running from October 24 to December 2, would feature grassroots clubs from Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, AJK, Gilgit Baltistan, Islamabad and FATA, he said.
He said Olympian Naveed Alam has already been nominated as the Director Development and Domestic to implement new format with zeal and spirit with the aims to involve players from clubs to the national levels. He said the initiative was taken by Pakistan Hockey Federation to widen up the pool for national selection and hopefully good things would come up from that format.
He said that the Inter-Club at Peshawar District would be commencing from October 20 at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium wherein 11 registered are taking part. He said any new club want to get registration has been asked to come up and be part of the Championship for getting playing right. He said, the things for the new clubs are very much open and any clubs having 20 hockey players could apply for the playing right.
