As many as 21 superintendents of different Darul Amans from Punjab completed their five days refresher training course on Friday arranged by the Social Welfare Training Institute, Lahore. Director General Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Mal Punjab Waheed Akhtar Ansari was the chief guest on the occasion. He said: "We are committed to utilising all efforts for enhancing skills of our officials."
Conveying their issues to the DG, the superintendents said their problems had not been addressed in their departments unless they protested against their departments' high-ups. They urged the DG to take appropriate action against such callous people. A superintendent said the high-ups in Darul Aman of Nankana district were inefficient and their attitude towards juniors was condemnable. She urged Akhtar to resolve their concerns so that they could do their work without any difficulty.
Speaking to the participant, Superintendent Asma Sarwat said most of the people who come for obtaining admission in shelter homes (Darul Aman) are either convicted or face criminal charges. "As per the admission rules, we are not allowed to give enrolments to such people," Asma added.
All the participants demanded to increase their security measures and the persons living inside the shelter homes. The superintendents were briefed about the human rights, rights of residents, guidelines for dealing with residents, networking with relevant departments, Punjab employees efficiency, Discipline and Accountability Act, 2006, financial matters, delegation of financial powers, settlement of audit paras, provisions of income tax and sales tax relating to government incumbents, stress management and Women Harassment Act, 2012, in their training session. The superintendents from across the province participated in the training session.
