Islamabad High Court Friday on Friday sought a detailed report form Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) administration about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers who were arrested during a youth convention on October 27. The court also issued directives to Islamabad police to avoid from illegal arrests.
On October 27, the IHC has summoned PTI chief Imran Khan to appear before the court on October 31 in person and explain under which law he is going to seal the city on November 02. On October 28, making federation of Pakistan through Ministry of Interior, ICT administration and Islamabad Police as respondents, a PTI worker Muhammad Bilal and others filed a writ petition in IHC, seeking court directives for respondents to refrain from harassing, illegally detaining and arresting PTI workers and leadership.
Appearing before a single bench of IHC's Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui, the counsel for petitioners requested the court to seek explanation from the respondents as to why they failed to observe the court orders which barred them from infringing upon the citizens' rights.
However, the bench recorded conceding statement of the petitioner, as the court said in its order, "When asked as to whether petitioners/PTI and their leader namely Imran Khan and others are ready to respect and comply with the order of this Court passed on October 27 - petitioner and their learned counsel, in attendance submitted that order passed by this Court shall be respected in its letter and spirit and protest shall be staged at the designated place". Seeking report from ICT administration and Islamabad police in the matter, the bench adjourned the hearing of the case till October 31.
