At least ten people died after some wedding guests consumed toxic alcohol on Thursday night when they were celebrating marriage function in Chirstian colony area.
According to details, condition of twelve wedding guests deteriorated after consuming tainted alcohol in Christian Colony area of Jhelum. Eight of them died at the district hospital and two reportedly expired at a hospital in Rawalpindi. Hospital sources said that two others are in critical condition.
Christian Colony area is notorious for production of alcohol. The liquor produced in this area is sold widely within Jhelum district. The development comes a day after the Sindh High Court ordered an immediate closure of all wine shops across Sindh. The incident highlights the proliferation of low-grade liquor in the country, which officially bars people from drinking in the country.
