Pakistan Post honours Afra Karim with commemorative stamp
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Post has issued a commemorative postage stamp on February 2, as a tribute to the world’s youngest Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) Arfa Karim. Arfa died on January 14, 2012 due to epileptic seizure and cardiac arrest after battling for weeks at the CMH in Lahore.
To commemorate the occasion, Pakistan Post will organize a grand ceremony, in which Arfa's parents are likely to attend the function.
She was honoured with many awards at a very young age. She was the youngest ever MCP at the age of 9 years in 2004. Chairman of Microsoft, Bill gates, invited Arfa to tour the Microsoft headquarters in US when she was only 10 years old
Arfa Karim received the Fatima Jinnah Gold Medal in the field of Science and Technology and the Salaam Pakistan Youth Award in August 2005. Arfa is also the recipient of the Presidential Award for Pride of Performance and is still the youngest recipient of that award ever.
