Qualifier Muhammad Hamza upset Pakistan No 1 Muhammad Ammad in a marathon five sets battle final witnessed by capacity crowd present on this occasion in the 30th Chief of the Air Staff National Junior Boys Squash Championship played here at PAF Hashim Khan Squash Complex ON Tuesday. Air Marshal Asad Abdur Rehman Khan Lodhi, Acting Chief of Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force, was the chief guest on this occasion.
The final provided great thrill for the sitting spectators. Muhammad Hamza, also from PAF Squash Academy, gave a tough resistance to his strong rival Muhammad Ammad, the current national Champion. In the Under-15 category final international Uzair Shoukat of PAF beat Rashid Doulat of PAF in another five sets battle, 3-2, the score was 5-11, 11-9, 3-11, 12-10 and 11-4. Uzair Shoukat played well and did not give much room to Rashid to strike back.
Similarly, in the Under-17 final qualifier Saif Ullah of PAF who just a year earlier started squash by skipping from hockey, beat Own Abbas of Punjab in a five sets battle, 3-2. The score was 9-11, 9-11, 11-3 and 11-9 when Oan Abbas called for a retired hurt by leaving the fifth set 7-3. Furthermore, in the Under-19 final both Mehran Javed, seeded second, and Mansoor Zaman, second first, presented a good display. Both attacked each other with some good display of shorts and some beautiful cross-courts smashes were also witnessed. Lefty Mansoor has better control over his length short while Mehran Javed fully utilized his long reach, putting, Mansoor Junior under tremendous pressure.
