Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Irrigation Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao has called upon the federal government to make sincere efforts to provide the smaller provinces with their due share in the CPEC project to ensure uniform and broad development in the country.
He stated that development of certain areas while ignoring the rest of the country will weaken the federation.
These views were stated by the minister while addressing a joining ceremony in Union Council Mirza Dher, Charsadda.
The Minister also demanded immediate integration of FATA and KP and stated that the merger would make Khyber Pakhtunkhwa the second largest province in the country. He criticised those who were politicising the issue for their political gains and stated that all political parties and stakeholders should unite on that issue for the rights of Pakhtoon nation.
KP Minister also demanded that steps should also be taken for up-gradation of transmission lines to put an end to power losses and develop the capacity of transmission lines thereby providing a feasible environment for investors.
Sikandar Sherpao stated that the indifferent attitude of the federal government towards the smaller provinces was developing a sense of deprivation among people of the province. He said pakhtoon nation had rendered numerous sacrifices for the country but they had never been compensated.
The Minister further added that KP was rich in natural resources and steps should be taken to give provinces complete control over their natural resources.
He said that exploitation by the federal government was a major obstacle due to which the smaller provinces were only being used to feed the larger provinces and their development was severely hampered.
