Although Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced schedule of the 2nd edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), it is not clear as to whether the final of PCB's showpiece event will be staged in Lahore. As per schedule, the 2nd edition of the HBL Pakistan Super League is all set to be held in Dubai & Sharjah from the 9th of February, 2017 with all five teams returning to fight for the Winner's Trophy.
After the success of the inaugural edition, the number of match days of the tournament has been increased from 16 to 18 days. The tournament will be declared officially open at the grand opening ceremony on the 9th of February, 2017, followed by the first match of the season.
Defending champions Islamabad United will face Peshawar Zalmi in the opening match of the second edition of PSL. The final will be played on March 7 but whether Lahore will host the title-deciding game is still up in the air, as it is still subject to security clearance.
PSL Chairman Najam Sethi had announced last month that the final of PSL will definitely be staged in Lahore, but in the schedule of matches, the board listed the plan as 'subject to security clearance'.
"PCB is continuously in contact with security officials and will wait for their clearance. Foreign players will be informed accordingly about the situation," a spokesman of the board said.
