Barry's outpaced Carlton Tower by 7-4 in the Fresher Juice Polo Cup 2016 in the jam-packed Lahore Polo Club ground on Sunday. It was high-flying Hamza Mawaz Khan who struck splendid six goals in his team's triumph while Nafees Barry was another player of Barry's who contributed one goal. For the losing side, Naveed M Sheikh, Ahsan Javed Sher, Alman Jalil Azam and Adnan Jalil Azam hit one goal apiece.
In the third position match, half goal handicap advantage helped Qatalpur edge out Learning Alliance by 61/2-6. For the winning side, all the six goals were hammered by Abdul Rehman Monnoo while for the losing side, Omer Asjad Malhi and Ahmed Zubair scored a brace each while Usman and Bilal Haye hit one goal apiece.
PIACL Board of Directors Malik Nazeer Ahmad was chief guest on the occasion while England's Guard Polo Club Director Nigel Hadden Paton, Al-Halal Food chairman Farrukh Sattar and LPC President Irfan Ali Hyder were the guests of honour.
Talking to media after winning the final, Hamza Mawaz Khan said: "Although our opponents were not a weak team, yet we all played exceptionally and I put in extra efforts to win this event and coveted trophy. But I would to say that it was all team work as I was fully supported by my team, and that's the main reason I was declared player of the final."
