Chief of Jamaat e Islami Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the government's failure to present all the documents called for by the Supreme Court on Monday was a continuation of its delaying tactics to prolong the case. In a statement issued on Monday, he said that the rulers had already gone pale and seemed to have no words to defend themselves.
Sirajul Haq said that the JI as also the nation wanted across the board accountability of all including the rulers, the opposition and the bureaucracy. He said that JI approached the court for evolving an effective mechanism to weed out loot and plunder of public money.
He said it's the corruption that brought the country under heavy debt and had also been defamed in the comity of the nations. However, a section of the society always opposed accountability and trying to sabotage the process in this direction. The JI chief pointed out that during the past eight months, none of the state institutions had taken any action in regard to the Panama leaks. He added that a former NAB chairman has on record disclosed that corruption to the tune of Rs 12.5 billion was taking place in the county annually. He said the question was why NAB had not taken any action in this respect.
