Chairman PTI, Imran Khan, Tuesday rejected the 7-member commission formed on the Dawn story which was an attack on national security. "The planted story was aimed at deliberately creating disconnect in civil-military relations at a time when Indian aggression was increasing not only in IOK but also along the LoC and Working Boundary," Imran said.
Imran Khan said retired Justice Amir Raza selected to head the Commission has strong links to PML-N, and was also a candidate of PML-N for caretaker CM. As such his credibility to conduct an independent, effective inquiry is highly questionable. Khan added that Pakistan has a history of Commissions headed by retired judges where the reports have been put in cold storage. Khan demanded a time bound inquiry be instituted under a serving judge of the superior judiciary so that the guilty can be brought to justice in a timely fashion. Khan also said out that if the Interior Minister, as he had claimed, already had proof about who and how the story was planted, then there is no need for a committee as he should proceed to try the guilty under the relevant security laws of the land.-PR
