Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a mixed trend during this past week as compared to the preceding week, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder, here on Saturday. According to details, prices of chicken, egg, sugar, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and other non-perishable items remained stable during the week under review.
Good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda are available at Rs 850 per 5kg tin, eggs at Rs 100 per dozen in the wholesale market, chicken at Rs 5,000 per 40-kg in the wholesale market, sugar at Rs 3,700 per 50kg bag and 20kg bag of wheat flour is being available at Rs 760.
According to the survey, LPG is being sold at Rs 115 per kg and a domestic LPG cylinder weighing 11.8kg is being available at Rs 1,270. Sugar in retail market is being available at Rs 77 per kg, chicken at Rs 150 per kg, chicken meat at Rs 260 per kg and eggs are at Rs 110 per dozen.
Tomatoes price in the wholesale market reduced from Rs 300 to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70 per kg, best quality potatoes jumped to Rs 230 from Rs 200 per 5kg, while normal quality potatoes are being available in the market at Rs 140 to Rs 150 per 5kg.
Potatoes in the retail market are being sold at Rs 40 to Rs 55 per kg. Onions prices witnessed a reduction of Rs 10 per 5kg from Rs 160 to Rs 150 in the wholesale market which in retail market they are being sold at Rs 40 per kg. Ginger price reduced from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 120 per kg. No change was registered in garlic price and it is being available at Rs 1,300 per 5kg, whereas in the retail market it is being sold at Rs 300 per kg.
The price of brinjal went down from Rs 300 to Rs 225 per 5kg which in the retail market is being available at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 80 per kg. Carrot price was found to be stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Cucumber price was also found to be stable at Rs 200 per 5kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 50 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Peas prices witnessed a further increase from Rs 600 to Rs 800 per 5kg which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 180 per kg against 130 per kg. Kaddu price witnessed a decline of Rs 200 per 5 kg from Rs 300 to Rs 100 per 5kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 25 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Karaila price went up from Rs 350 to Rs 500 per 5kg which is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 90 per kg in the retail market. Tinda price witnessed a reduction from Rs 450 to Rs 350 per 5kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 85 per kg against 100 per kg. Arvi price reduced from Rs 300 to Rs 250 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 70 per kg.
Prices of cauliflower and cabbage remained stable at Rs 200 per 5kg in the wholesale market which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 50 per kg. Capsicum price was also found to be stable at Rs 800 per 5kg, which is being sold at Rs 200 per kg and okra at Rs 350 per 5kg in the wholesale market which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 80 per kg whereas Tori remained stable at Rs 300 per 5kg which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 70 per kg. The survey observed no change in the prices of essential kitchen items including rice, pulses, spices, milk and others. Dal mong is being sold at Rs 140 per kg, lobia at Rs 120 per kg, Masoor at Rs 145 per kg, dal channa at Rs 150 per kg and Kabuli channa is being available at Rs 170 per kg.
Prices of most of the fruits during the week under review registered a mixed trend as good quality local banana is being sold at Rs 80 per dozen and normal quality at Rs 50 per dozen. Pomegranates are being available in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 200 per kg, guava at Rs 50/70 per kg, apples in the range of Rs 70 to Rs 250 per kg and good quality grapes are being available at Rs 180 per kg.
