Chairman of Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRBC), Sohail Shamim Firpo has informed that PRBC was planning to send a high-level delegation to Romania in May 2017, to explore more opportunities of enhancing the existing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Romania.
Sohail Firpo, who was accompanied by all the Directors of PRBC during his visit to Karachi Chamber, expressed his eagerness to utilise all available resources, make collective and all-out efforts to raise the existing trade volume between the two countries.
President KCCI Shamim Ahmed Firpo, Senior Vice President KCCI Asif Nisar, Vice President KCCI Muhammad Younus Soomro and KCCI Managing Committee members were also present during the meeting. He further pointed out that trade ties between Pakistan and Romania have been gradually improving, particularly after the formation of PRBC which was actively engaged in strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and the progress achieved so far, in this regard, was very encouraging.
He said that Romania being a member of European Union and having the 7th largest port of the world, offers immense opportunities particularly to those businessmen and industrialists who were keen to export their goods and services to European countries.
Sohail mentioned that since its inception in 2010, PRBC has become a vibrant platform which provides complete trade facilitation to its member firms. "PRBC is directly linked with Romanian Foreign Office and its Embassy in Pakistan. We have been successfully sending business delegations to Romania from time to time and have twice received Romanian delegations in Pakistan since PRBC's inception in 2010," chairman PRBC said.
PRBC's representatives also participated in an Air Show held in Romania whereas Pakistani Mango Festival was also arranged successfully by the Business Council which received overwhelming response, he added.
Underscoring the need to make collective efforts, Sohail Firpo asked Karachi Chamber to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with PRBC which, amongst other mutually agreed features, must particularly focus on sharing of information, trade queries and relevant research data on reciprocal basis.
Highlighting PRBC's regular participation in KCCI My Karachi-Oasis of Harmony Exhibition, Chairman PRBC requested KCCI office-bearers to offer special incentives and discounts to the business and industrial community of Romania so that they could be encouraged to participate in next year's event which would surely bring the business communities more close to each other.
He further stressed the need to create some kind of liaison between Karachi Chamber's Research & Development Department and PRBC which would certainly yield positive results. Sohail Firpo also invited Businessmen Group's Leadership, KCCI office-bearers and Managing Committee members to visit the office of Pakistan Romania Business Council which has been playing the role of bridge between the business communities of the two countries.
Earlier, President KCCI Shamim Ahmed, in his welcome address, briefed the participants about the vibrant role being played by the Chamber towards enhancing trade ties with countries around the world and raising voice for creating an enabling environment for the business and industrial community.
He said that the Karachi Chamber wants to promote business, mutual understanding and friendly relations between the business communities of Pakistan and Romania. "We also want to promote Romanian trade and investment in Pakistan and do everything for the development of Pakistan-Romania business cooperation," he added. He further said that PRBC has been doing a fine job by keenly focusing on exploring ways and means of how to enhance trade and they have achieved appreciable results however, it was a long way as lot more still needs to done.-PR
