Senate Sabir Baloch said on Friday the co-chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Asif Zardari is undergoing backbone therapy at present, causing delay in his return to Pakistan. Talking to Business Recorder, Baloch added that Zardari would return within this month. However, he was not clear when asked whether Zardari would be back ahead of December 27.
"Before or after, it is not clear yet due to his treatment," he said. He said he was quite hopeful in the revival of PPP under Bilawal Bhutto, admitting that the party was sluggish due to the obvious reasons. "PPP is the only political party carrying an ideological identity and answers to the socio-economic problems of the people of Pakistan," he stressed.
When pointed out that the number of party workers from Lahore was yet unimpressive at the inaugural ceremony of the Foundation Day, he disagreed and asserted that youngsters were there in a big number against the elders. Regarding the possibility of December 27 protest rally as announced by Bilawal Bhutto, he said, much more depends on the government response to four demands of Bilawal.
"We will definitely be out on streets in case government failed to comply with the demands of party chairman," he said. He said he was quite satisfied with the presence of party workers at the Foundation Day celebrations, saying that the party leaders, workers and supporters have arrived from throughout the country to show their strength.
