The Sindh Cultural Day was observed in all over province including this provincial capital city with traditional enthusiasm on Sunday. Various political, social, religious, governmental and non-governmental organisations arranged programmes to celebrate the day. Thousands of people belonging to different ethnic groups expressed their love with the Sindhi culture.
The day gave the look of a mass celebration as people were found dancing to the tune of musical song by Ahmed Mughal 'Sindhi Topi Ajrak Wara Jiyan.' Largely-attended rallies were staged in various cities including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Nawabshah and Larkana.
A ceremony was also arranged in front of the Karachi Press Club (KPC) where Sindhi Topis (traditional caps) and Ajraks (traditional muffler-cum-chador) were presented to the journalists.
Different organisations set up stalls of Ajrak and Sindhi caps near KPC and celebrated the day with great zeal.
The children and women were seen clad in Ajrak clothes. Famous Sindhi singer, Shazia Khushk, sung Sindhi songs on this occasion.
Sindhi remains a 5000-year ancient culture and Sindhi Cultural Day is celebrated worldwide every year in December by wearing Ajrak and Sindhi Topi (cap) that manifest the identity of Sindh and Sindhi culture and also remains a symbol of the Indus Valley civilization.
