ISTANBUL: Turkish lira weakened more than 1 percent on Monday, retreating after hitting its firmest in two months on Friday following the release of U.S. pastor Andrew Brunson after two years in detention on terrorism charges.
The lira stood at 5.8875 against the U.S. currency at 0535 GMT, off its close on Friday when it firmed as much as 5.80 overnight.
