The Karachi Port handled 130,711 tonnes of cargo comprising 82,420 tonnes of import cargo and 48,291 tonnes of export cargo including 5,784 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 82,420 tonnes comprised of 48,085 tonnes of containerised cargo; 375 tonnes of general cargo; 32,710 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 26,610 tonnes of coal; 6,100 tonnes of DAP and 1,250 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 48,291 tonnes comprised of 28,581 tonnes of containerised cargo; 50 tonnes of general cargo and 19,600 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,784 containers comprising of 3,497 containers import and 2,287 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,164 of 20's and 997 of 40's loaded while 159 of 20's and 90 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 942 of 20's and 163 of 40's loaded containers while 317 of 20's and 351 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were eight ships namely MSC Chiara, Hyundai Brave, Newark, Northern Genius, Maritime Dinar, Global Hope, Ikan Senyur and White Coral carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Newark, Cosco Sao Paulo, Hyundai Singapore, Cosco Boston, APL Japan, Sea Ambition, Torvancer and White Coral carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Sea Ambition and Tian A Zuo carrying oil tanker and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while three ships namely Bomar Rissen, Hyundai Singapore and Cosco Boston carrying containers are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are seven vessels Osaka Tower, Venice Bridge, Bright World, Nave Polaris, Dong A Glaucos, Mohar and Pindos carrying containers, chemical, unit, cement and coal respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 72,273 tonnes includes 16,501 tonnes of furnace oil; 10,900 tonnes of slag; 3,602 tonnes of LPG; 249 tonnes of project cargo and 41,021 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 30,742 tonnes includes 30,742 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,777 containers comprising of 2,159 containers import and 1,618 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
There were three ships namely CV MSC Elina, CV MSC Esthi and MV Thorco Legion carrying containers and project cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two ships namely CV Al-Mhanama and MT Gemini Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Al-Mhanama, CV MSC Elina, CV MSC Esthi, MV Thorco Atlantic, MV Chintana Naree, MT Gemini Gas, MT Rise Fortune and MT Black Pearl currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, project cargo, slag, furnace oil and LPG respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as eleven ships namely CV MSC Albaniy, CV Maersk Hartford, MV Genuine Hercules, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Globe Tanya, MT Eco Glaxy, MT Nave Rigel, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Lion-M and MT Maritime Dinar carrying containers, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday.
There were five vessels viz. CV MSC Albaniy, CV Maersk Hartford, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Eco Glaxy and MT Maritime Dinar carrying containers, chemical, LPG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were five ships namely CV Al Khor, MV Thorco Legion, MV Belle Masuka, MT Senna Princess and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, project cargo, fertilizer, LPG and diesel oil due to arrive on Tuesday. There is one ship namely MV Imari carrying project cargo due to arrive on Wednesday.
