Ruling Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) on Friday while flaying Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan's announcement that he will boycott Supreme Court (SC) proceedings, if the apex court was formatting a commission to probe Panama paper case, said that the PTI leader was insulting national institutions and the people will reject him in next general elections.
Addressing a joint press conference here on Friday PML-N leaders including former Federal Minister for Information Pervez Rashid, State Minister for Information Technology Anusha Rehman and Prime Minister's Special Assistant, Barrister Zafarullah Khan said that Imran Khan has failed to prove his allegations in the apex court against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and he was trying to escape.
Rashid, who had resigned as Minister for Information in October over a controversy, said that Supreme Court was a constitutional institution while Imran Khan had repeatedly disrespected the parliament as well. He further said that PTI's case was over, the day PTI lawyers failed to present any evidence whatsoever of the corruption. "Resignation? We're not even ready to give PTI chairman a broken button of PM's sherwani", Rashid said and added that after wasting seven months of the nation, Imran Khan had fled the ground. "He was bound to fail, just like Pervez Musharraf and Benazir had failed", he said.
Senator Pervez Rashid said Imran Khan is now bullying the apex court by threatening that he would boycott court's proceedings if a commission is formed in the Panama Papers case. He said PTI Chief has become habitual in defaming and undermining national institutions. He said it is regrettable that Imran Khan is now not ready to accept court's offer of setting up a commission, which has been prayed in PTI's petition, to probe the of Panama Papers case. He said Imran Khan should take courage and accept his failure in proving his allegations against Nawaz Sharif and withdraw the case.
Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman while terming Imran Khan as a king of U-Turns said that he is now running away from his much demanded judicial commission to probe Panama paper scandal. Anusha said that Imran Khan was not serious in legal course but wanted to stage a show on the roads. "Imran Khan had claimed that there'll be truckloads of evidence. But when his lawyer came to the court, all they had were some pointless pages downloaded from the internet and some newspaper clippings along with a book", she added. She added that the speeches PM had made in the parliament were in simpler words and aimed for public consumption. "His legal argument has been presented in the court. What he said in the parliament was just aimed at public consumption. The detailed argument is given before the court", she maintained.
Barrister Zafarullah Khan said Imran Khan does not want Pakistan's development and is hell bent in spreading anarchy and chaos in the country. Anusha Rehman said with its decision to boycott the Commission, the PTI has broken its previous record of disrespecting the institutions. Barrister Zafarullah while showing surprise over Imran Khan' remarks said that as a lawyer throughout his career he has never seen any party threatening the court that its decision would be unacceptable. He said that Imran had himself demanded the formation of a commission but today when the court asked about it, he issued threat instead of presenting a legal argument.
