Pakistan strongly condemned the unprovoked firing by Indian troops, killing one civilian and injuring four schoolchildren in Nikial Sector along the Line of Control (LoC), summoning top Indian diplomat on Friday to lodge a strong protest. According to Foreign Office Spokesperson Nafees Zakaria, Indian Deputy High Commissioner JP Singh was summoned by Director General South Asia and SAARC, Dr Mohammad Faisal to the ministry of foreign affairs after the incident.
He said that the director general urged the Indian side to respect the 2003 Cease-fire Understanding and investigate this incident and other incidents of cease-fire violations. He said that the Indian side was also urged to instruct the Indian forces to respect the cease-fire in letter and spirit, stop targeting the villages and civilians and maintain peace at the LoC.
The spokesperson further said that the director general strongly condemned the unprovoked cease-fire violations and targeting of a school van on Friday by the Indian occupation forces at the LoC, in Nikial Sector, resulting in killing of one innocent civilian and injuries to four schoolchildren. He stated that the deliberate targeting of civilians, villages, civilian transport and a school van is condemnable and contrary to human dignity as well as international human rights and humanitarian laws.
Earlier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a statement that Indian troops violating cease-fire sanctity targeted a school van at the LoC in Nikial Sector, which resulted in killing of a civilian and injuring four schoolchildren. "Pakistani troops effectively responded and targeted Indian posts, from where fire was coming," added the statement.
