Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has said that seven projects will be completed in the province under China Pakistan Economic Corridor. Talking to newsmen in Nowshera the other day, he said the projects include laying of double rail track between Peshawar and Karachi, construction of Diamer Basha Dam, a double road, laying of a railway track and optic fiber between Gilgit and Abbottabad, construction of an Industrial Estate at Hattar, converting Peshawar-Dera Ismail Khan road into a double carriage way and laying of railway line between the two cities.
Khattak termed CPEC as game changer for the country in general and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in particular. The Chief Minister said that the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be a partner of the Chinese government in seven different projects under CPEC.
He pinpointed that these seven projects were of utmost importance as CPEC had enhanced strategic importance of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The chief minister said that the provincial government was already taking steps to avail full benefits of CPEC on permanent basis.
He informed that the provincial government was also undertaking a number of projects through its own resources. He said that all technical training centres in the province were being upgraded in the context of CPEC to prepare skilled work force in the province to put the province on fast track development.
Khattak explained that 11 technical training centres have already been handed over to Pakistan Air Force while the rest of the training centres would be developed with the assistance of Frontier Works Organisation and private sectors.
He said that the provincial government was taking steps for the development of the province in transparent manner and that is why international investors were being attracted to the province for investment.
Responding to a question, Khattak said that the province was rich in hydro, mineral and other resources which would be exploited for the benefit of the people and development of the province.
He said the provincial government has already taken all necessary steps and made up its mind for the three industrial states in the province which included Hattar Industrial estate, Reshakai Industrial Estate and D I Khan Industrial Estate.
He further said the provincial government has already planned to use its share of natural gas for power generation to be given to these industrial estates on concessional rates that will boost rapid industrialisation in the province. The basic philosophy behind this move was to strengthen productive sectors to become the base line for the stronger economy of the province.
The KP CM said that the provincial government would soon initiate Mass Bus Transit project with the financial assistance of Asian Development Bank which would give one solution to all traffic congestions in Peshawar City.
