Growth in Mexico's manufacturing sector ground to its slowest pace in more than three years in December in the wake of uncertainty hanging over Mexico after the election of Donald Trump as US president, a survey showed on Monday. The Markit Mexico Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index dropped to 50.2 when adjusted for seasonal swings, the lowest level since October 2013, from 51.1 in November.
A reading above 50 signals expansion, while a reading below that points to contraction.
The survey showed output slipped below the 50-point level, while new orders also fell sharply. Input cost inflation accelerated to one of the highest levels seen over the past four-and-a-half years, reflecting the peso's tumble in 2016.
