Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan on Thursday reiterated that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif sent 'corruption money' abroad through money laundering and established offshore companies on his children's name to hide the corrupt money. Speaking at a press conference at his grand Bani Gala residence, Imran said that the affidavit given by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, a close aide of Nawaz Sharif, in which he accepted money laundering for the prime minister, is a testimony of his ill-gotten wealth.
On behalf of the whole nation, the PTI chairman thanked the Supreme Court for fixing Panama Leaks case for day-to-day hearing, adding Sharifs kept delaying the case for almost eight months, and now all eyes are fixed on the apex court as it is the last ray of hope for the people.
"Panama case is about the Sharif family and its wrong that we failed to submit evidence in the court...we've submitted enough evidence in the apex court which will determine the fate of those involved in stashing the taxpayers' money in offshore companies," he added.
He said that his party would prove that Maryam Safdar is the sole owner of the offshore companies, as her father sent the money abroad through money laundering and it was invested in offshore companies to hide his corruption.
The PTI chairman said that Qatari prince who jumped into the fray to save Sharifs must substantiate his claim, as after evidence submitted by the PTI in the apex court, the importance of his letter has gone down the drain.
"The Qatari prince mustn't think of coming to Pakistan as here the only place for him is the prison as he's misled the court....ICIJ representative in Pakistan has already said that the evidence which we've submitted are correct so let's see how the government responds as whatever we have given against the Sharifs are authentic documents," he added.
Imran said that the sole purpose of holding press conference is that the government ministers are misleading the nation, which needs to be countered, adding, "The presser is not meant to influence the court, as we have full confidence in the court."
The 'Moto Gang,' a term which Khan uses for a group of Sharif administration MNAs and ministers, has become 'defaced' for lying consistently to justify the ill-gotten wealth of Nawaz Sharif.
"We'll not let the Moto Gang to mislead the nation in a bid to save the skin of their boss [Nawaz Sharif]...for how long you'll keep lying as the contradictory statements by Nawaz Sharif and his children from time to time are enough to substantiate that they are lying," he added.
