With a view to provide most-modern sports facilities to the youth, the Punjab government has planned to establish state-of-the-art infrastructure of sports complexes at district headquarters level. Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said here Tuesday that Punjab Sports Academy is also being set up where players would have quality coaching.
"Sports play a pivotal role in creation of a healthy society and the Punjab government is taking effective steps for the promotion of sports in the province," Rana said, adding: "The Punjab government is promoting sports culture throughout the province, as sports activities can help eliminate extremism." Rana further said that the inclusion of physical education in the syllabus is aimed promoting extracurricular activities for making the children physically strong as well. Formation of a healthy society through sports activities, is the need of hour, he stressed. He said that inter-school competitions would also be conducted in government schools.
