Federal government (FG) has waived off customs duty on all imports pertaining to Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (LOLMT) with intention to encourage timely completion of the project. Kh. Ahmad Hassaan, Chairman of the Steering Committee for the project informed this during the weekly progress review meeting on Wednesday.
He said that civil work on package II of the project from Chouburji to Dera Gujjran was being executed round the clock and construction of all the 13 elevated stations along this section has also been initiated side by side with the assembling of the track. Orders for import of form works for pre-casting U-Tub girders and Transoms had also been placed for this purpose, he added.
It was informed that so far 59 per cent civil work of the project has been completed. Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G.T.Road to Chuburji was 74 per cent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 44 per cent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 60.3 per cent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 57.5 per cent. It was further informed that compared to the previous year, 15 million cubic feet additional gas was being supplied to the Lahore region during this year and 30 emergency teams were working 24 hours to redress public complaints regarding supply of Sui gas in the city. Work to lay 17300 meters long new line in various localities of the city has been started which would be completed at a cost of Rs 13 million within one month.
Member Provincial Assembly, Chaudhary Shahbaz Ahmad, Deputy Mayors Mian Muhammad Tariq and Ijaz Hafeez, Secretary Infrastructure CM Secretariat Kh. Imran Raza, DIG Traffic Captain (R) Ahmad Mubeen, Chief Engineer LDA, Asrar Saeed, Chief Engineer TEPA, Saif-ur-Rehman, General Manager NESPAK Salman Hafeez, Senior Officials of Punjab Mass Transit Authority, LESCO, PTCL, SUI GAS, Traffic Police, Civil Defence, Rescue 1122 and Railway, Chinese Contractor, CR- NOROINCO, Representatives of Chinese Engineering Consultant and Local Contractors of the project attended the meeting.
