In connivance with the corrupt officials of traffic police, violation of traffic rules and regulations by drivers of cars, rickshaws, motorcycles, trucks, buses and mini buses etc. are on the rise in the city. It has become a normal practice for the drivers to break the one-way traffic rule by plying their vehicles on the wrong side of the road creating problems for law-abiding vehicular traffic. Many drivers desist from following U-turns or intersections to go to the other side of the road.
It is also observed that the traffic police officials make no efforts to apprehend traffic rules' violators who also do not care traffic signal lights and violate the red signal at will. Motorcyclists usually drive recklessly which causes accidents.
Many people are habitual violators of traffic rules.
There are a number of drivers who stop their buses anywhere to pick up passengers and stop buses in the middle of the road in haste for passengers to step down which not only create problems for the vehicles coming from behind but endanger the passengers.
Even well-educated drivers do not care traffic laws and their violations too cause accidents.
A large number of vehicles including cars, rickshaws, motorcycles, etc., are plying on Karachi roads without number plates despite high alert in the city due to fear of terrorist t activities.
Instead of shouldering their responsibilities honestly, the traffic police officials always complain of shortage of manpower despite the fact that available strength is not seen the busy thoroughfares. The lame excuses by them, is a proof that they too are involved in these violations by their inaction against the violators.
