Felicitating Muhammad Zubair, a leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Chairman Privatisation Commission, on his appointment as the 32nd Sindh governor, business community hoped that the new governor will ensure good governance in the province.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) president Masood Naqi said that Muhammad Zubair, who had performed well as a key economic adviser to the federal government, will deliver the goods. "Business community of Karachi warmly welcomes Muhammad Zubair's appointment as Sindh governor and will extend him full support for the prosperity and development of the city and province," he added.
Prominent businessmen, S.M. Muneer, hoped that the newly-appointed governor, who possessed rich experience of the corporate sector and had also served Board of Investment as its chairman, will leave no stone unturned in resolving the issues being faced by industrialists and the business community of Sindh, in general and Karachi, in particular.
Leaders of the United Business Group (UBG) - Gulzar Firoz, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Dr Mirza Ikhtiar Baig - have also welcomed the appointment of Muhammad Zubair as Sindh governor. BMG chairman and former KCCI president Siraj Kassam Teli, BMG vice chairmen and former presidents - Tahir Khaliq, Zubair Motiwala, Haroon Farooki and Anjum Nisar - KCCI president Shamim Ahmed Firpo, SVP Asif Nisar, VP Muhammad Younus Soomro and Managing Committee's members, also hailed the Prime Minister's decision of appointing Zubair as Sindh governor.
Extending full cooperation to the new governor, they said that collective efforts are required for reviving economic activities in Sindh. "Any initiative to be taken by Sindh governor for further improving the law and order situation and strengthening the infrastructure of Karachi will be fully supported by Karachi Chamber," they said. They hoped that Muhammad Zubair will pay special attention towards the issues being faced by Karachi, besides having a close liaison with the Karachi Chamber for the resolution of the business community's problems.
