The Karachi Port handled 120,191 tonnes of cargo comprising 87,783 tonnes of import cargo and 32,408 tonnes of export cargo including 6,914 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 87,783 tonnes comprised of 38,924 tonnes of containerised cargo; 64 tonnes of general cargo; 34,795 tonnes of bulk cargo: 22,400 tonnes of coal; 7,329 tonnes of DAP; 5,066 tonnes of soyabean meal and 14,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,408 tonnes comprised of 31,259 tonnes of containerised cargo; 169 tonnes of general cargo and 980 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 6,914 containers comprising of 4,053 containers import and 2,861 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 2,146 of 20's and 882 of 40's loaded while 17 of 20's and 123 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 594 of 20's and 582 of 40's loaded containers while 477 of 20's and 313 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were three ships namely Wide India, Red Cosmos and Cevdet-A carrying containers, soyameal and molasses respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There was one vessel viz. Kiran Marmara carrying general cargo currently at the berths.
There were three ships namely Northern Dependant, ABB Vanessa and OOCL California carrying containers respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday, while another ship namely Kota Lahir carrying containers is expected to sail on Friday.
There were three vessels viz. Al Abdali, MT Shalamar and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tankers respectively due to arrive on Thursday while eleven vessels viz. Cosco Fukuyama, Vecchio Bridge, Langeoog, Hyundai Confidence, FPMC P Glory, Bow Flower, Marylaki, Al Yasat-II, Mohar, Dato Lucky and Waldy Slaw Orkan carrying containers, mogas, chemical, DAP, rock phosphate, cement, steel and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 167,274 tonnes comprising 134,936 tonnes of import cargo and 32,338 tonnes of export cargo including 4,085 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
As many as 4,085 containers comprising of 2,383 containers import and 1,702 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
There were two ships namely MV Toe and MT White Purl carrying bulk cargo and LPG sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Albany carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Savannah, CV MSC Albany, MV Teo, MV Wlady Slaw Orkan, MV Thalassini, MT Al-Rekayyat, MT White Purl and MT Bahara currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, general cargo, slag, canola seeds, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships carrying containers, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maipo, MV Chemroad Quest and MT M Gas carrying containers, chemical and LPG expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There was one ship namely MT Neptus-D due to arrive on Thursday, while three ships namely CV CMA CGM Tosca, CV Maersk Innoshima and MT North Gas carrying containers and LPG respectively are due to arrive on Friday.
