The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) had forewarned Punjab home department on February 7 that an unidentified terrorist group was planning to carry out a terrorist attack in Lahore. An official said on Monday that NACTA had issued a notification to home secretary Punjab, provincial police officer Punjab and director general Punjab Rangers on February 7 that an unidentified terrorist group has planned a terrorist attack in Lahore.
He said that the notification further directed that all vital installations including important buildings, hospitals and schools may be kept under strict vigilance. The authority also directed for extreme vigilance and heightened security measures to avert any toward incident.
Following the terrorist attack in Lahore, the high-ups of Islamabad police put security on red alert in order to avert any untoward incident. The inspector general of Islamabad police issued directives to increase patrolling across the city and ensure strict checking at the exit and entry points of the city.
