At least five persons including three personnel of Levy Forces were killed and five other injured in suicide bombing in Mohmand Agency's Ghalanai tehsil on Wednesday. Sources said that two suicide bombers had tried to enter a housing colony of the local political administration. When they were stopped by Khasadar personnel, the one militant blew himself up outside the main gate of the colony, while other bomber retaliated with levy personnel, and killed by forces at the main gate of the agency headquarter, they added.
According to Medical Superintendent Agency Headquarters hospital Ghalanai Dr Shahd Muhammad, the dead personnel included Sepoy Taj Alam, Sepoy Zar Said, Teacher Pazir Gul, Civilian Tahir Khan and Sepoy Yasir Khan succumbed to injuries on the way to Peshawar Hospital. The injured were identified as Havaldar Shah Room, Sepoy Hayat, Sepoy Sheraz and two children Haris and Moony, he added. The injured were shifted to Peshawar Hospital for treatment.
An eyewitness Munir Khan who teaches in the Higher Secondary School Ghalanai said he was in the classroom at 9:00am when he heard the voices of indiscriminate firing and then after a huge blast occurred. "I was feared that some unknown men attacked our school because we were already informed to beef up the school security," Khan said. He added that all the students in the school were afraid that what happened in the headquarter Ghalanai because glasses of many offices were also broken due to huge blast.
"Drawing Master Pazir Gul who also died in the blast came to school early in the morning. He was going to bazaar for some work but as he reached the main gate; firing was started and then a suicide bomber blew himself and the Drawing Master was martyred," said Munir Khan.
Tahir Khan, resident of Katasar Ghalanai, who was also died in the attack, recently came from Saudi Arabia and he had come at the school to meet his deep friend Havldar Kabeer Khan who was on duty at the main gate. After the incident curfew was imposed on the areas and all the local bazaars Ghalanai, Chnada and Ekkaghund were close down. The main Peshawar Bajaur Road was also closed for traffic from 9:00am to 2:00pm. Security forces conducted search operation in Headquarters Ghalanai, Babi Khel, Halki Ghandab, Sheikh Banda, Garo Kando and others areas. Security forces also claimed that a party of forces also came under firing in retaliation five militants were killed in the attack, adding ammunition and explosives were recovered from their possession.
