Chairman of the Steering Committee for Lahore Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) Project, Kh. Ahmad Hassaan while talking to media persons after chairing the weekly progress review meeting regarding ongoing work on OLMT project, here on Thursday has directed to prepare a plan for shifting of utility services including water supply, gas, electricity, telephone lines etc before kicking of execution of new development projects in the city in coming days to avoid inconvenience caused to the people as a result of relocation.
Kh. Ahmad Hassaan also directed for constructing underground ducts along all roads in the city in future for passing service lines of utilities in order to avoid repeated road cuts for ensuring permanence of these roads.
He directed administration of Rescue 1122 for arranging special safety lectures for creating awareness about safety issues and taking protective measure among the labour employed by the contractors as well as government departments associated with the project.
He further directed for complete verification of credentials of the new labour to be appointed by the contractors under the prevailing security scenario.
He said that the Chief Minister, Punjab, has approved summary for grant in aid amounting to Rs.149 million for the remaining 110 affectees. The former occupants of Bangali Building, Mouj.
Derya, CDGL Shops and Sukh Nehr etc will be compensated out of this grant, he added.
It was informed that so far 60.7 percent civil work of the project has been completed. Progress on package-I from Dera Gujjaran, G.T. Road to Chuburji was completed 75 percent, on package-II from Choburji to Ali Town was 45.25 percent, on Depot near Dera Gujran was 63.1 percent while on Stabling Yard near Ali Town it was 59.5 percent completed.
Member Provincial Assembly, Chaudhary Shahbaz Ahmad, Chief Engineer TEPA, Saif-ur-Rehman, General Manager NESPAK Salman Hafeez, Senior Officials of Punjab Mass Transit Authority, LESCO, PTCL, SUI GAS, Traffic Police and Railway, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Chinese Contractor, CR- NOROINCO, Representatives of Chinese Engineering Consultant and local contractors of the project were also present on the occasion.
