The 2nd edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Female Games got under way at Dera Ismail Khan Sports Complex amidst great fun and joys in the colourful opening ceremony with more than 480 female players are taking part in 13 different disciplines with tight security all around.
Nazim Dera Ismail Khan Aziz Ullah Khan Alizai was the chief guest on this occasion who formally inaugurated the Games in a colourful opening ceremony. Assistant Commissioner Dera Ismail Khan Zahid Pervez Warriach, Director General Sports Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Miss Rashida Ghaznavi, District Sports Officer Razi Ullah (Tank), Anwar Kamal (Dera Ismail Khan), international coach Syed Jaffar Shah, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present. The colourful ceremony was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Sania of Govt Girls Degree College Dera Ismail Khan, followed by a melodious Naat presented by Sidra of Govt High School Sherazai, followed by National Anthem.
On the opening day of the two-day Games that involved players from Dera Ismail Khan and Tank Dera Ismail Khan got an edge securing first positions in Tug of War, Hockey, Cricket, Squash, Badminton, Table Tennis and Net Ball.
In Hockey match Fariha scored first hat-trick of the Games by scoring three goals while Alishba and Aliya scored one goal each for Tank. In the Cricket final, Dera Ismail Khan batting first by setting up 72 runs with Javeria, Nagma and Gul Parran scored 17, 15 and 13 runs respectively. Tank failed to chase the target and bowled out for 70 runs in a thrill-packed match. Sania took three wickets in the last over, Lubna, Irum and Khollah took two wickets each.
