Hubco has signed an MoU with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) to provide better education access in Balochistan. As part of this partnership, 3 government schools have been adopted in Hub, Balochistan by TCF and will be managed on behalf of Hubco. Hubco will bear the complete cost of operating these schools. The schools will facilitate 500 students with free of cost quality education. The province with 1.8 million out-of-school children will witness first-of-its-kind school adoption in the Hub area.
"Hubco believes in investing into the communities where we operate. There can be no better way to do that other than giving them education. Hence, we decided to partner with TCF to help us manage the newly adopted government schools. We have already invested into a number of TCF schools in the area and are confident that they are most efficient in imparting quality education for children who haven't been to a formal school," said Mr. Khalid Mansoor, CEO of Hubco.
"Hubco's initiative in supporting education in Balochistan is highly commendable. This is one of the areas in the great need not just of education but overall community upliftment. TCF, as the leading and most trusted non-profit organisation in the education sector of Pakistan for 21 years, will ensure that these schools will deliver quality education to out of school children," said Syed Asaad Ayub Ahmad during the MoU signing.
As a leading corporate-citizen of the province, Hubco is actively pursuing its CSR strategy with projects in Health, Education, Physical infrastructure and livelihood for the local communities, especially in Hub and Lasbella district. The company is also running a fully funded solar-powered TCF School near its plant in Hub, arranging free transportation for the students, in addition to providing them free school bags and uniforms. Approximately 450 students from Hub and Gadani areas are studying in this school. The company has recently installed RO plant to provide 1800 gallon/day of clean drinking water to the school children.
Hubco has also sponsored another fully funded TCF primary School in the existing school premises which is near completion & would start classes in April 2017.The school will accommodate 180 children. Additionally, a TCF primary school is under construction at Pirkas Road fully sponsored by Hubco. This school will enroll another 180 children and would start functioning in August 2017.
TCF has observed over time that introducing quality education in the communities that were deprived of this right previously, sets a soft revolution in motion. Now more parents agree to send their sons and daughters to school and education helps them benefit from better work opportunities while also equip them with knowledge and skills to make better life choices.-PR
