City police claimed to have killed 62 alleged dacoits and busted as many as 45 gangs here in the metropolis during February 2017. In their monthly performance report, police said some 74 raids were carried out in different city neighbourhoods as a part of the ongoing Karachi Operation that led to the arrests of some 560 accused involved in various criminal activities.
The report said, during the operations police arrested 521dacoits/ criminals, one murderer, and 13 proclaimed offenders (Pos). Police further said that they have recovered 39 hand guns, 18 riffles, nine repeaters, seven revolvers, two daggers, one carbine one mouser, 16 hand grenades from their possessions during the course of actions. No police official was killed while nine sustained injuries in fighting against the criminals during the said month.
It may be relevant to mention here that the police claimed to have killed 25 accused and arrested 2,380 others in the metropolis during January 2017. In their monthly performance report which was released in the early days of February police said some 1888 raids and 77 encounters were carried out in different areas that led to the arrests of 2,380 accused involved in various criminal activities. They also busted as many as 51 gangs operating in the city during the same period.
The report said, during the operations police arrested 478 criminals under arms act, 532 were arrested under narcotics act, 199 absconders, 98 dacoits/robbers, two extortionists, 19 murderers, 15 were nabbed under terrorism act, 26 proclaimed offenders (Pos) and 1010 others were also arrested during the said time period.
Some 578 hand guns, 11 Kalashnikovs, eight riffles, three repeaters, 12 revolvers, three daggers, one carbine, two shot guns, 16 hand grenades, 2041 bottles of Liquor, 6 kilo gram heroin, and 185 kilo gram hashish were recovered from their possessions during the course of actions. A police official was killed while four others sustained injuries in fighting against the criminals during in January.
