A meeting regarding implementation of Provincial Action Plan (PAP) in the light of National Action Plan (NAP) was held on Friday at the office of its Convenor, the Secretary Information Department Imran Atta Soomro who presided over the meeting. Law and order situation and the preparedness and contingency plans to meet the challenges or any untoward situation came under discussion at the meeting that also reviewed the implementation status of decisions taken during the last meeting.
The meeting was attended by Director PEMRA, Colonel Zeeshan from ISPR Karachi, Major Qambar Raza of the Rangers, DG Information Syed Wajahat Ali and Director Press Information Zeenat Jehan Siddiqui. It was decided at the meeting to continue the advertisement campaign that they felt more effective to highlight the present scenario and arena of terror that how we can save ourselves and other people from the anti-state elements.
It was decided that public awareness campaign would begin through public service messages in ads to the electronic and print media as how we can ascertain that if the people living in our neighbourhood on rent has deposited his identity card in the concerned Police Station or whether his activities are suspicious. Meeting was of the view that by this sort of advertisement many unpleasant incidents could be avoided.
The meeting discussed current security situation with special focus on flaws and shortcomings. The participants shared recommendations to overcome the shortcomings. They proposed that pre-emptive and sustainable measures were required to cope with the security threat and all these things are possible through advertisement. They decided to hold another meeting after fifteen days to address the security problems.
They discussed the report of PEMRA regarding prohibition of firebrand speakers on TV and print media; publicity of new laws and anti-terrorism efforts of Sindh Police; projecting positive steps undertaken by the law enforcement agencies in Karachi and rest of Sindh; weekly report of Karachi operation being conducted by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh)/Sindh Police and co-operation of ISPR to implement the decisions of Apex Committee.
