TQK Takrah Qabaili Khwenday (brave tribal sisters) has demanded the government to ensure participation of tribal women in the Fata reforms process to make the Fata-KP integration decision a success. The demand was made by TQK member, Nadeed Afridi while addressing at a press conference at press club on Monday. She rejected the Riwaj Act, saying that they would not accept FCR in shape of Rijaw Act. She further said the representation of tribal women in reforms committee was inevitable to make the Fata-KP integration plan a success.
Accompanied by TQK members, Ayesha Mohmand, Zuhra Saeed, Saman, Noor Hehan and others, she said the reforms process for Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) was not all inclusive as women were neither included nor formally consulted in this regard, saying that the reforms committee the prime minister did not have a member from FATA or a woman from the tribal region, they regretted. "We believe, Riwaj in itself is a gender-discrimination practice and has always proved to be anti-women since the patriarchal oppression is based on it", they added that the women were excluded from the decision-making forums and the Jirga has patriarchal structure.
Naheed Afridi demanded the immediate merger of Fata with KP, instead of five years. She suggested that the women should be part of any forum for further action on the Fata reform process adding that commitment and assurance for the mainstreaming of Fata after five years. She further proposed that a formal judicial system should be extended to region and all the rights granted to the people of Fata like other civilians of the country.
