The Lahore High Court on Monday restrained Director General (DG) of Child Protection Welfare Bureau Fatima Sheikh from making new appointments in the department. Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah issued the order while hearing a petition challenging appointment of Ms Sheikh as DG and adjourned the matter to March 15 for concluding arguments.
Petitioner's counsel Sheraz Zaka argued that the respondent had been misusing her office and making appointments in the department whereas her own appointment was sub judice before the court. He therefore prayed the court to declare the appointment of the respondent as illegal and without any merit. The chief justice restrained the director general from making further appointments till next hearing and directed the Punjab government's lawyer to conclude his arguments. The hearing was adjourned till March 15.
