Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday reserved its judgement on the matter related to the jurisdiction of minor housemaid abuse case. The court may announce the order during next week. A single member bench comprising Justice Aamer Farooq heard the case.
The Supreme Court on March 8, 2017, had stopped Tayyaba trial case and asked IHC to consider transferring the case from Judicial Magistrate Islamabad Syed Haider Ali Shah to either another subordinate trail court or to consider assuming its own jurisdiction.
Ten-year-old Tayyaba was working as a maid in the house of a serving Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and is said to have been tortured by him and his wife Maheen Zafar.
The SC had taken suo moto notice of the matter previously; however, a compromise was later made between the ADSJ and the Tayyaba's family. The court reserved order after counsel of civil society, lawyer of ADSJ Khan, his wife Maheen and parents of minor girl concluded their arguments.
