International golfer Taimur Naseer of PAF bewildered fellow golfers by taking a one strokes lead on the first day with his gross score two under 70 over 18 holes of the 54-holes golden jubilee edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa National Amateur Ranking Golf Championship which got under way here at PAF Golf Course on Friday.
Vice President KP Golf Association Brigadier Ghulam Hassan Joya, Station Commander Peshawar, was the chief guest and formally inaugurated the 50t KP National Amateur Ranking Golf Championship with more than 160 golfers are taking part. International golfer and Secretary Organizing Committee Major Arshad Mehmood, and good numbers of spectators were also present.
Recently got fourth position in Bangladesh, a zero handicapper Taimur Naseer carded two under 70 over 18 holes with 34, two under par, at front nine with 36, par, at back nine. He also scored four birdies at hole no. 3, 6, 8 and hole no 13 besides hitting single bogy at hole no 5 and 6. National team member Robin Bagh carded one under 71 with two under 34 at front nine and one over par 37 at back nine. Robin scored three birdies at holes no. 4, 8 and nine and missed a stroke at Hole No. 1 and 10.
Zohaib Asif, a zero handicapper, carded 72, par, with 35, one under at front and 37, one over par, at back nine including three birdies and three bogy at hole no. 3,13 and14. Saqib Tufail of Lahore Gymkhana, a three handicapper, with 72 par, struggling at third along with Zohaib Asif. Saqib Tufail carded 35, one under at front nine hole and 37, one over par at back nine with three birdies and made five single bogies.
Kabir Ahmad with two over par 74 gross remained at fourth. Kabir hit 39, three over par at front nine and 35, one under at back nine with two birdies and three single bogies. Muhammad Rehman, a zero handicapper, carded 76 with 41 at front nine and 35 at back nine.
Muhammad Rehman scored two birdies and a single bogy over hole no. 3 and double bogies at hole no. 4 and single bogy at 9 and 16. Inayat Ullah with his gross 76, Sajjid Khan of Karachi with gross 77 were the other golfers in the run for the top honor. Inayat Ullah carded 37 at front and 39 at back nine holes with one birdie and five single bogies besides a doubles bogy at Hole No. 16 par-4.
